Letter: Unfortunate Fisher getting bad press

Letter to the editor FSA

It is disappointing to see Forum Communications columnist Mike McFeely and his fellow Democrats disparage a successful North Dakota company because of its work to secure our border. From working at Fisher Industries as the manager of General Steel in 1972-1979, to seeing everything the company is accomplishing today under the direction of Tommy Fisher, I’ve watched him grow the business to new heights, turning past struggles into positive changes. As the sole owner, Fisher has worked hard to be a good environmental steward, promote employee satisfaction, and build innovative designs to complete complex projects. Most notably today, working to secure America’s southern border and put the company’s footprint on the national stage.

Fisher has grown the company from a small local company to eight divisions and several affiliated companies today, with approximately 1,000 employees working in support of heavy civil construction throughout the Dakotas, Arizona, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

In the past five years, Fisher has earned several prestigious workplace awards, which were the result of employee nominations. The company has received numerous recognitions, including the 50 Best Places to Work by Prairie Business Magazine for the years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

What began as a small but enterprising aggregate processing company has now emerged as a leader in portable crushing operations and innovative design and manufacturing.

There is no question that Tommy Fisher is a successful leader for Fisher Industries. He continues to move the company in the right direction and conducts business the right way. Fisher has built a team that truly tackles the tough jobs.
