Letter to the editor: Jewish people persevere despite persecution

Tribune-Review

Anti-Zionism is the same as antisemitism, and antisemitism is the hatred of Judaism (ref: “Why the Jews,” by Dennis Prager). Judaism is a monotheistic religion founded by Abraham and based on the belief that the land of Israel was designated by God as a homeland for his descendants (the Jewish people).

A society of Abraham’s descendants lived in the land of Israel and were governed by the laws expressed in the Five Books of Moses (ref: Joshua, Judges, Kings, Prophets, etc). The foundation of Judaism is highlighted by the Ten Commandments (also the foundation of democracy).

The hatred of Judaism is essentially the hatred of God and his commandments. A disdain for God and the Ten Commandments is also a hallmark of communism, socialism and liberalism. The liberal protesters who link the Palestinian issue with anti-Zionism are protesting against Judaism (“from the river to the sea”). They are siding on the same side of history as those empires that tried to exterminate the Jewish people. Those empires have ended up on the ash heap of history (ref: Mark Twain). Meanwhile, the Jewish people who comprise 0.2% of the world’s population persevere despite millennia of persecution.
