Emma Watson's dad sends warning to the new Harry Potter child star's parents
The Harry Potter HBO TV series confirmed its cast for the leading roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. One of the parents from the original cast wanted to share some advice
A parent from the original cast of Harry Potter wanted to give a quick warning to the new cast.
Warner Bros and HBO have revealed the three up-and-coming stars who will be taking on the parts in the latest Harry Potter adaptation. Dominic McLaughlin will take on the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton is Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will feature as Ron Weasley.
These beloved characters were originally played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint from 2001 to 2011. These actors appeared in eight films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 1, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2.
Emma's father, Chris, opened up to Times Radio about how he tried to keep his daughter "grounded" during this time in her life.
He said: "As a parent, you have to be scared ... This can be a very difficult thing for a parent and child to handle, or not. It certainly helped that I don’t actually watch movies, it’s not a big thing in the house, and so it was easier for us to keep her feet on the ground."
Chris added: "Normal life continued as far as possible: her homework would go back to school on motorbikes, admittedly, but she had to do her homework and check in."
The announcement of the new cast was released on May 27, with showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod sharing some kind words.
They said of the announcement: "After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron."
The two continued: "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”
The upcoming HBO series will be an adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books by author J.K. Rowling, who is also credited as an executive producer.
