Officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation said crews have completed some portions of the Winston-Salem Beltway and are now focused on the northern and southern ends.

John Rhyne with the NCDOT says more and more pieces of the beltway are coming together with some pieces of the beltway set to be complete this year and some pieces that have not yet started.
Rhyne says a section of the beltway from US-421 up to University Parkway and from University Parkway to Highway 52 has also been completed.
Other parts of the beltway remain under construction.
"We're wrapping up the northern piece the section that ties I-74 to Highway 52 that should be done hopefully by the end of the month," Rhyne adds. "They're building the final touches on that right now. There are two pieces on the southern end that tie US-311 and I-74 coming out of High Point will allow folks coming out of High Point to catch the beltway and travel all the way north around Highway 52 when those two are complete. Those are both well over 60% complete at this point and contract completion is 2027."
Rhyne says construction for Highway 52 to NC-67 is set to begin in 2030, and construction from NC-67 to Robinhood Road is set to begin in 2031.
NCDOT started construction on the beltway 10 years ago, making it NCDOT Division 9's longest project to date.
