HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaii’s top public school students received some well-deserved recognition Friday, at the Citizen-Scholars Awards Ceremony in Waikiki.
Students, families and community leaders gathered to honor 42 outstanding students, one from each of Hawaii’s public schools.
Each citizen-scholar receives a $1,000 scholarship toward their college tuition.
The top students from each of the four counties got an additional $2,500, and the overall winners each receive an additional $5,000 scholarship.
The Citizen-Scholars Awards Ceremony is sponsored by the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and the Department of Education.
You’ll have a chance to meet all of the Citizen-Scholar winners in a special program on KHON2 next month.
