Elon Musk puts DNC on notice as he warns of ‘smoking guns’

.

Elon Musk is putting the Democratic National Committee on high alert as he threatens to expose more “smoking guns” in his efforts to release internal communications and documents to the public.

Musk, who recently became Twitter CEO, released never-before-seen information regarding the social media platform’s decision to suppress news stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop in October 2020. The “Twitter Files,” as the internal information was called, was the subject of an over two-hour audio chat on Twitter Spaces on Saturday night.

The billionaire called the censorship of the laptop tantamount to interfering in the 2020 election.

“If Twitter is doing one team’s bidding before an election, shutting down dissenting voices on a pivotal election, that is the definition of election interference,” Musk said, per the Daily Mail.

He went so far as to call Twitter the “arm of the Democratic National Committee.”

“It’s absurd,” Musk said.

Musk admitted during the audio chat that he has not read the Twitter Files, so his “understanding is limited.” However, it appeared to him that there was “a very different standard applied to Republican candidates in the U.S. versus Democrat candidates.”

His goal is that, after showing how Twitter suppressed information, legacy media will be more committed to the truth, Musk said.

He added that he believes there are “more smoking guns” at Twitter he wants to share with the public — but said it’s not clear when the information will be released.

“We’re just gonna put all the information out there, try to get a clean slate. We will be iteratively better, and it will force other media companies to also be more truthful, or else they’ll lose their readership,” Musk said during the audio chat.

As to whether he would make public requests from the DNC and the Biden campaign to take down certain posts on Twitter beyond Hunter Biden’s laptop, Musk said, “Yes, the intent is to release all the files.”

However, many conservative journalists who have followed the Hunter Biden laptop story said the internal information release was not a smoking gun but rather just showed that there was no evidence the DNC or President Joe Biden had any hand in limiting the stories’ presence on Twitter.

Musk had provided the internal files to journalists Matt Taibbi, who released them on Friday night, and Bari Weiss.

Taibbi shared screenshots of internal conversations between Twitter employees showing certain posts that had been flagged by members of the Biden administration or the DNC.

He pointed to a section of the Twitter Files that showed Democratic lawmakers pushing for more moderation on the platform, stating that the First Amendment is “not absolute.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to the DNC for comment.
