Construction crews and developers were on hand for a July 21 topping-out ceremony on the concrete superstructure of the future food hall at Reno Public Market, the former Shoppers Square property at the corner of Virginia and Plumb in Reno.

Reno Public Market construction manager Sal Ariganello and partner Rick Casazza were on hand for the event, which consisted of placing the final concrete beam at the top of the building’s south façade, according to a press release.

The ceremony included temporarily placing an evergreen tree and a flag atop the future food hall, a typical topping-out ceremony tradition, as well as re-hanging a “Building For Reno’s Future” banner over the structure as a mark of construction progress.

The food hall is scheduled to be complete in June 2022, according to Foothill Partners, developers of 150,000-square-foot Reno Public Market property.

According to previous reports, other tenants planned for the market include 7,000 square feet of space for Makers Paradise, an arts and culture collective currently located in Berkeley, Calif.; and 6,000 square feet of space for Truckee-based FiftyFifty Brewing Company’s new Reno brewpub.

Meanwhile, Coldstone Creamery and Port of Subs re-opened this spring brand-new line space along Plumb Lane. CVS also moved and opened in a new location, and the new Sprouts Farmers Market opened in May.
