The nomination process for the 2020 West Virginia Business Hall of Fame is open until Nov. 30.

Sponsored annually by the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics, the Business Hall of Fame kicks off the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Business Summit at The Greenbrier to honor and recognize those with strong West Virginia ties who have made a significant impact on the business landscape.

“The Business Hall of Fame is designed to recognize and honor our success stories,” said W. Marston “Marty” Becker, chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee and a 2009 inductee. “This is a group of entrepreneurs, pioneers and visionaries who have molded and transformed the business landscape in our state. By honoring their accomplishments, we honor our state’s heritage and draw inspiration to propel West Virginia forward.”

Since its 2001 inception, 68 individuals have been inducted into the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame. Each inductee has either been educated in West Virginia, built their careers in West Virginia or are native West Virginians.

Bill Bayless, chief executive officer of American Campus Communities Inc.; Judy K. Sheppard, chief executive officer of Professional Services of America, Inc.; and Leo A. Vecellio, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Vecellio Group, Inc. Coal industry billionaire comprised the 2019 Hall of Fame class and philanthropist Chris Cline was inducted posthumously.

Nominations are not limited to West Virginia University alumni; nominations from other West Virginia colleges and universities are welcomed and encouraged. Nominees will be judged on outstanding business performance coupled with high standards of ethics.
