CITN holds competition to improve students’ knowledge of tax

The Chairman, Students Affairs and Tertiary Institution Relations Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Dr. Abiola Adimula, yesterday, stressed the need to enlighten students about the role of tax in the development of an economy.

He also noted that the institute is playing a key role in improving tax policies and guidelines that will be mutually beneficial to both the government and tax payers in the country.

Speaking during the catch-them-young tax quiz competition among secondary schools students in Edo State organised by the CITN, Adimula said the initiative is to create an interactive atmosphere for students to share.ideas and contribute positively to the economic development of the country.

“This is an event organised by the CITN and had been held in Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Uyo and Lagos. This event has enjoyed the sponsorship of the institute in partnership with CITN Benin and District Society.”

Represented by the former Bursar of the University of Benin, Dr. Imagbe Victor, Adimula said CITN is investing on students both at secondary schools and tertiary institutions levels, saying “We believe in enhancing their resourcefulness as the future of the institute.

Participating schools at the tax competition were Itohan Girls Grammar School, St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School, Western Boys High School, Asoro Grammar School, Egor Secondary School, Eyean Secondary school, Army Day Secondary school, Ugiomon Secondary School, Niger College and Edo College.
