The developers of the 20.7MW Gori wind farm in Georgia have achieved financial close, according to the lenders’ technical advisor Mott MacDonald.

The $34m project, which is located approximately 70km west of Tbilisi, will comprise six Vestas V117 3.45MW turbines with tip heights of 150 metres.

The turbines will be connected to the national power grid at an existing 220kV substation near the city of Gori.

Engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald provided input on expected annual energy yield, construction management interfaces and contractual arrangements with the national grid operator.

The wind farm, which is the first in Georgia, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2016.
